ISD has a Student Council to allow children extra opportunities to learn leadership skills and voice ideas or suggestions to support the running and continued development of the school.

Any student is eligible to run for Student Council and a number of students are able to participate as the school year posts rotate halfway through the academic calendar.
The Student Council is set up to help make improvements to the school, fundraise for various causes the students are invested in and promote a sense of community.  As an example, the Student Council creates an “Action Day” once a year where they work together to organise a larger event to make a difference in the community.  They learn valuable leadership and organisational skills by researching the cause, designing how the funds will be raised, determining a fundraising target, advertising the fundraiser and eventually donating the money to the cause.
